California Wildfires — Relief Effort Information
October 25, 2007 — Hundreds of thousands of people have evacuated their homes and are seeking refuge from the wildfires that are burning in Southern California.
Many national and local charities are coordinating efforts to get help where it is most needed. Below are the legal name and Tax ID number of two national charities that can get relief to individuals and families who have been affected.1

If you are thinking about donating directly, consider taking the following precautions:
- Request and read information about the charity before making a donation. Legitimate charities will gladly send you written information when requested.
- Give to well-recognized charities and those you’ve given to in the past, or know of through a trusted connection.
- Find out whether a group is qualified under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code
