June 30th is the Fiscal Year-End for Many Charities

While the year-end holiday season is the most popular time to give, many charities have a fiscal year-end of June 30 and would benefit greatly from a donation prior to that date.  Charities can fall into a budget deficit if they are not able to meet their fundraising goals by their fiscal year-end, which can translate into decreased or cut programs.

If you were planning to give later this year, you might consider calling the charities you support to find out their fiscal year-end, and perhaps meet that date instead.

If you need to make a contribution to the Gift Fund to support charities now, be sure to think about donating any highly appreciated securities in your portfolio directly to the Gift Fund, which may mean a greater impact for the charities.
