Fidelity® Charitable Gift FundSM Reports New Giving Accounts Doubled in Q1 2007

Donors at All Levels Continue to Take Advantage of Gift Fund Benefits

BOSTON, April 10, 2007 — The Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund (“Gift Fund”) today announced significant giving and granting activity in the first quarter of 2007, led by a 39 percent year-over-year increase in the number of grants to charity, with a total of 59,844 grants1. For the same time period, the Gift Fund also reported a greater than 100 percent year-over-year increase in the establishment of new Giving Accounts, over half (54 percent) of which were established online.

Since the Gift Fund’s inception, more than 44,000 donors have recommended grants totaling more than $6.8 billion to more than 108,000 nonprofit organizations nationwide.2

Giving Accounts of All Levels Grow

The Gift Fund also saw a healthy response to the lower initial account minimum introduced in October 2006, with more than 30 percent of new accounts established in the $5,000 to $10,0003 range from the time of introduction through March 2007. Meanwhile, accounts established at $25,000 and greater also represented nearly 30 percent of all new accounts for the same time period.

“We are pleased that we have made donor-advised funds more attractive to both new and existing donors — many of whom view this offering as a more convenient way to manage their overall giving,” said David Giunta, president of the Fidelity Charitable Gift Fund. “This validates our belief that individuals of all giving levels are embracing the donor-advised fund model to easily and effectively support their favorite charities.”

Lowered Grant Minimums Well Received by Donors

Since the Gift Fund lowered its granting minimum in October 2006 from $250 to $100, over 21,000 grants of $250 or less have been made through March 2007. During this same time period approximately one in four (22 percent) of Gift Fund donors who recommended a grant took advantage of the lowered minimum

Online Giving Activity Increases

During the first quarter the Gift Fund continued to see strong online activity with 75 percent of all grants recommended online. This was consistent with 74 percent of grants recommended via the Web in 2006, and up sharply from five years ago when only 44 percent of grants were recommended online.

Additionally, 63 percent of online grants in the first quarter of 2007 were made to charities that a donor had granted to in the past. This demonstrates the convenience and ease with which donors can repeat the same grant or set up their Giving Account to recommend recurring grants on a monthly, semi-annual or annual basis.

Redesigned Web Site

In anticipation of increased activity, and to support new and potential donors in their giving, the Gift Fund has redesigned its Web site, charitablegift.org. The Web site helps make charitable education and online management of Giving Accounts even more accessible. In addition to an entirely new design and navigation, enhancements to the site include new educational resources to assist donors in building personal giving plans, information to help choose charities that meet their needs and determining which types of assets may best maximize tax deductions. Gift Fund donors can also share their personal “Giving Stories” with visitors to the site.

“Our donors have shown us they value our online services, with a vast majority of grants being recommended online,” said Giunta. “As a result, we expect the newly enhanced Web site will provide current and prospective donors with more of the information they want, and need, to easily support their giving.”
